A Message from  Fr Trevor

The evenings are drawing in and it is getting a bit cooler - it must be Autumn! Why not come along to St Nicholas and join us for one of our services and/or one of our social events?

Services at St Nicholas

Sunday 5th October - Pet Service. A chance to bring your pets to church at 15:00 for a short service with a blessing of your pet. Nothing larger than water buffalo. Pets that may escape in suitable carriers please. Please invite friends and neighbours to this informal service of thanksgiving. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Sunday 13th October - Harvest Festival. the annual opportunity to give thanks for God’s marvellous bounty that is given to us. We will be collecting for Chestnut Tree House. They have asked for the following:

  • tinned tuna and baked beans, packs of biscuits, chocolate buttons, tea bags, coffee, sugar, squash.
  • The activity team always want the boxes of cake mix so the children can just select a box to bake (they usually have characters on them)but any baking items would be great.

There will be a lunch after the service of Shepherds pie (plus vegetarian option) followed by apple crumble and cream / custard. Please let me know if you are planning on coming and if you have and dietary requirements.

Sunday 2nd November - All Souls Service a short service at 18:00 when we look back and remember those who have died and that we have loved. It is a simple service where we light a candle for those we remember and say a few prayers. It also gives us a chance to meet others who are mourning the loss of a loved one. Sometimes, the very knowledge that we are not alone can give us strength to help us with our grief. Remembering a loved one is important to us all and we invite anyone to come and light a candle at this service.

Sunday 9th November - Remembrance Sunday. 9:30 service in church followed by an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 10:45. This is a chance for the whole community to come together to remember those who gave up their lives in armed conflict in the First World War and beyond.

Sunday 7th December - Feast of St Nicholas. A service at 18:00 to celebrate the life of St Nicholas, our parish patron saint and to celebrate the life of St Nicholas church in our community today.

Christmas - I will be finalising the dates for the Christmas services over the next week or so and will let everyone know as soon as I have further details.

We have regular Sunday Services at 8:00 (Book of Common Prayer) and 10:00 Parish Communion service. Refreshments are served after the 10:00 service

We also have a service at 10:00 on Thursdays followed by refreshments.
