It’s Time to Say Good-bye, with my retirement on 23rd May.
In the spirit of Less is More, I’ll spare you a ten page, or so, account of my time here.
This is the last of my circular letters. Thank you for reading them, and thank you to those who have offered items (spiritual, reflective, reminiscory, and humorous). Those items have been much appreciated by many people during the past year of COVID.
Even if you are still not able to come to Church, please be assured of our remembering you, especially in prayer.
Thank you for putting up with me over the past nearly twenty four years. I have had many happy and fulfilling moments. I shall miss (more than perhaps I realise) being vicar. On a basic level, I have always found the daily task of opening and shutting the Church building to be strangely comforting. I sense, if I may say, that it is a little like saying Good Morning, and then Good Night, to someone dear to you.
Please turn over. This is recycled paper.
23rd May is the Feast of Pentecost/WhitSunday, as we celebrate the giving of God’s Holy Spirit. The Spirit helps us when praying, or either speaking or doing the right things, doesn’t come easily or naturally. The Spirit is there to help us in our individual lives, and in our life together as part of God’s world-wide Church.
As of 23rd May, I shall no longer be involved with the life of St Nicholas, Middleton. The people of the Church and Parish now, and of the past, will remain in my thoughts, prayers, and heart.
With my greetings, and prayer for God’s Blessing, as you come to know further the Father through the Son in the power of the Holy Spirit.
